Rangers’ Fan Advisory Board has criticised the club for failing to publish information on the financial situation at Ibrox ahead of the Annual General Meeting.
The group say that the club has failed to publish details of a meeting they had with Rangers chief financial officer James Taylor last month, which contained information that may shape supporter opinion ahead of the annual meeting with shareholders.
On the day of the AGM at Glasgow’s Armadillo, the fans group said on social media that it had made “repeated requests” for the minutes to be published, to no avail.
The Fan Advisory Board said on X: “We are extremely disappointed that minutes of a meeting with Rangers CFO James Taylor on Nov 5 have still not been made available by the club, despite our repeated requests.
“The purpose of the meeting was to raise issues around the club’s financial results and provide clarity and context to help inform fan analysis ahead of the AGM.
“Delays in publishing minutes to our meetings are completely unacceptable and we expect the club to move much more quickly in future to ensure appropriate fan insight.”
Rangers announced the creation of the fans’ group last year, saying that it marked “a pioneering step in fan engagement and representation”.
The club said the board would be “integral in shaping the future of Rangers, offering critical insights and guidance on key club matters and policies” and demonstrated “unwavering commitment to fostering a closer, more collaborative relationship with our supporters”.
After a difficult year on and off the field, the Rangers board is expected to face difficult questions at the AGM, with supporters having expressed unhappiness about the departure of chief executive James Bisgrove, the stadium issue that forced a temporary relocation to Hampden, and the club’s financial results, which detailed a £17.2m loss.
Rangers have been contacted for comment.
