Rangers have been fined just over £3000 by UEFA over the behaviour of fans during a recent Europa League match.

Supporters who travelled to watch the team in the Europa League semi-final first leg against RB Leipzig last month lit flares inside the stadium, prompting disciplinary action.

UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary body looked at the incident at a meeting on May 17 and levied a fine of €3,750.

Rangers lost the match 1-0 on the night, with Angelino scoring the only goal for the Bundesliga side.

A fightback from Rangers turned the tie around at Ibrox a week later, with the team winning 3-2 on aggregate to reach a European final for the first time since 2008.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side then met Eintracht Frankfurt in the final in Seville but were beaten on penalties.
