Tom Lawrence will remain out of action until at least when the Premiership restarts following the World Cup at the end of the year.
The Wales international is among a list of long term injuries for Rangers with John Souttar, Filip Helander and Ianis Hagi also expected to be out until 2023.
The 28-year-old strained his knee during his team’s 4-0 victory over Ross County back in August, but Van Bronckhorst said the forward sustained a new injury “this week”.
He said: “Tom Lawrence’s recovery went on schedule but he sustained a new injury this week. We have to wait to see how long he’ll be out but it will be longer term.
“Probably more months than weeks.
“I don’t think we’ll have him back before the World Cup.”
Lawrence signed for Rangers a day after striker Antonio Colak and became the third addition to the squad after John Souttar made the move at the end of the season.
The left winger spent five seasons at Derby where he scored 35 goals and had 25 assists in over 180 appearances.
