Rangers have revealed a portrait of King Charles has been hung in the club’s home at Ibrox.
The image of the King is one taken as an official portrait to mark his 60th birthday, shot on November 13, 2008.
The Glasgow side has had a picture of Queen Elizabeth displayed on the wall of the home dressing room for decades.
The late monarch’s portrait has been on the wall since the team was managed by Graeme Souness – he said it was one of the first things he did after taking up the position in 1986.
Speaking on talkSPORT in September, Graeme Souness – Rangers manager between 1986 and 1991 – said that he was responsible for the portrait of the Queen being put in place.
“When I was at Glasgow Rangers… we have an old fashioned dressing room with great, big, high ceilings and it was crying out for a portrait of our Queen,” he said.
“So, I instructed (the kit man) Doddie, who was the boss of the dressing room – not the tallest of chaps – so he went out and got this picture that was slightly bigger than him.
“And he put it up in the dressing room and it’s still there today, and I’m proud I was responsible for that.”
On Saturday, a few hours before Rangers’ game against Bayer Leverkusen, the club tweeted a photo showing the portrait of Charles above a traditional wood panelled wall within the stadium.
New manager Michael Beale told his players they will all get a chance to stake their claim against the German side in the friendly in Govan due to kick-off at 1pm.
His first competitive match in charge will come in five days time at home to Hibernian.
