Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack has labelled Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis disrespectful after the Greek claimed Celtic would win the league and were ‘obviously’ a better team.
Speaking after his hat-trick helped Celtic move three points clear of Rangers with a 3-2 win over Dundee in February, Giakoumakis said it was clear his side were better and worked harder on the field than their city rivals.
“The squad is really good,” the Celtic forward said. “I think it’s the best in the league.
“I think we’re well prepared for every single game. We have a very good plan and we tried to stay committed to it.
“I think we’re better in every single part of the team.”
Now, two days before the Old Firm derby, Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack has hit back, labelling the comments as disrespectful.
He said: “Yeah I don’t agree with that.
“I don’t get that comment at all. I think it’s disrespectful to come out with that.
“But it is what it is, we will go quietly about our business. We’ll do our talking in here [the training ground] and work hard in here in-house and come Sunday we will be right up for the challenge.”
