Scott Wright say there’s no reason why Rangers can’t go all the way and win the Europa League after setting up a Seville showdown with Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Ibrox side booked their place in the final on May 18th after a 3-1 second leg victory over RB Leipzig to go through 3-2 on aggregate.
And, after knocking out the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Red Star Belgrade and Braga already, Wright believes they can lift silverware in Spain.
‘The confidence in the team is high, you can see from the performance tonight, there was character as well. They scored so late and we managed to get a goal and see it out, so there’s a lot of character and confidence in the team.
‘These opportunities don’t come around all the time, it’s the sake of trying to enjoy them and take it in while you can, but you obviously want to chase that next step and for us that was tonight, we wanted to chase that next step of getting to the final and now the next thing is we obviously want to go and win it. We don’t want to be there just to take part, so yeah, that’s obviously what we’ll do, we’ll go there to win.’
‘We were just taking it game by game, that’s what you’ve got to do. We obviously focused on trying to get a result back to Ibrox last week and we managed to do that and bringing the game to Leipzig today and we managed to get a result, so now, we will look forward to the game at the weekend and face the final when it comes.’
The victory was the latest in a number of exhilarating European nights at Ibrox this season, and Wright believes the crowd have played a huge part in getting to them to the brink of a European trophy.
‘It’s crazy. it’s special, I think that’s the best way to describe it. You can hear the noise when we scored the third. When the final whistle goes, for everyone involved with the club, it’s special. There’s not much more else you can say. It’s great to try and make the fans proud as well, that’s brilliant.’
