Danny Rohl has arrived in Glasgow to finalise his move to Rangers.

STV Sport understands that the former Sheffield Wednesday manager is set to be appointed as the new head coach at Ibrox.

Rohl arrived in the city on Monday and could be in the dugout for the Europa League game against Brann on Thursday.

Rangers are still looking for a replacement for Russell Martin, who was sacked two weeks ago after a disappointing run of results.

Moves for Steven Gerrard and Kevin Muscat fell through at the eleventh hour.

Under-19s boss Steven Smith was in the dugout for the 2-2 draw with Dundee United on Saturday.

Rohl was in charge at the Owls for just under two years, keeping them in the English Championship before finishing 12th in his first full season.

He left Hillsborough in the summer by mutual agreement amid financial difficulties at the club.

Before taking charge at Wednesday, which was his first job in management, he had coaching roles at RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and Southampton, and was assistant boss under Hansi Flick at the Germany national team.

He was linked with a move to Rangers at the start of the process to find Martin’s successor, but initially ruled himself out of the running.

It now appears he has had a change of heart and is set to take the job.
