Ryan Jack will miss Scotland’s World Cup playoff against Ukraine on Wednesday after pulling out of the squad with an injury.
The Rangers player has been replaced by Luton Town’s former Motherwell midfielder Allan Campbell.
Jack’s injury is a further blow to Steve Clarke’s plans for the crunch games ahead with Arsenal star Kieran Tierney already missing.
Despite missing part of the season through injury the 30-year-old finished strongly and played in the Europa League final before scoring the crucial first goal in the Scottish Cup win over Hearts.
Campbell played 31 times for Luton in the English Championship last season and scored four goals as they missed out on promotion to the Premier League through the playoffs.
The 23-year-old will be looking to win his first cap if he can impress the manager ahead of the coming fixtures.
Scotland can set up an all or nothing clash with Wales in Cardiff with a win over the Ukrainians at Hampden as they look to qualify for their first World Cup in 24 years.
Following that they will be on Nations League duty with a game against Republic of Ireland and a double header against Armenia.
