Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his thigh.
The Colombian was sent home from international duty with a muscle problem, did not make Sunday’s Old Firm derby, and the injury has now been assessed.
The forward has undergone surgery to his thigh and has started a programme to bring him back to full fitness.
Rangers expect the striker to return to training this upcoming pre-season.
In a statement released on their website, the club said: “Following an injury sustained whilst on international duty with Colombia, Alfredo Morelos has undergone surgery to his thigh.
“Our medical team are pleased with the outcome of the operation and his rehabilitation programme is under way.
“He will return to training with the First Team squad during pre-season. We wish him well during his rehabilitation.”
The striker has been in impressive form this season, finding the net 19 times across all competitions and setting up eight goals.
His absence will come as a huge blow to Rangers as they prepare to face Braga in the quarter finals of the Europa League on Thursday and Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final on April 17.
