Rangers moved to second in the William Hill Premiership with a deserved but nervy 1-0 victory over Dundee at Ibrox on Saturday.

Vaclav Cerny scored the only goal in the first minute of the second half but the hosts spurned numerous other chances – including hitting the woodwork four times – before claiming a slender win.

The result took them above Aberdeen, whose winless run was stretched to six games as they surrendered a lead to lose 3-1 at home to Hibernian.

Topi Keskinen put the Dons ahead after 14 minutes but Elie Youan quickly equalised and Nicky Cadden and Martin Boyle secured victory with goals either side of the interval.

Oisin Smyth scored a last-minute winner as 10-man St Mirren snatched a dramatic 2-1 win at Ross County.

The visitors had been pegged back when Michee Efete cancelled out Alex Iacovitti’s opener and were facing an uphill battle after Scott Tanser’s 55th-minute dismissal, but Smyth had the final say from a free-kick.
