Rangers are still working on a deal to complete the signing of Everton striker Youssef Chermiti ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

The 21-year-old forward has emerged as a target for the Ibrox club as the summer squad rebuild at Ibrox continues.

Hamza Igamane left the club last week, and Cyriel Dessers’s future is uncertain, meaning new attacking talent is a priority.

While the signing of Bojan Miovski is imminent, work is continuing on a deal to take former Sporting Lisbon striker Chermiti to Ibrox.

Chermiti moved to the English Premier League side in 2023 after making the breakthrough in Portugal and impressing in the top flight after being promoted from Sporting’s B team. Everton reportedly paid around £11m for the striker.

The player, who has played for Portugal at every youth level, has made 24 appearances for the Blues, mostly as a substitute. He is currently behind Beto and Thierno Barry in the pecking order and was not included in the squad for the midweek EFL Cup game against Mansfield.

Everton manager David Moyes said on Friday that the striker may go out on loan, but STV understands a permanent move is also being discussed between the parties.
