New British 800 metre indoor record holder Jemma Reekie says her relationship with training partner Laura Muir has been the secret to her success.
The two Scottish athletes will be competing in Glasgow this weekend along with a host of track and field stars at the World Grand Prix at The Emirates.
The 21-year-old said: “Training with Laura is amazing, I have learned so much from her.
“We also good friends as well so to have that friendship is really important.
Meanwhile Laura Muir insists having two top female athletes on the world stage will be good for the future.
She said: “I think it is hugely important that kids can see Scottish and British distance runners doing well.
“And girls as well because I think there has been an issue with girls wanting to get involved in sport as well recently so I think it is important that we are here and competing on home soil in Glasgow.”
