The referee and VAR team for this season’s Scottish Cup final between Aberdeen and Celtic have been announced.
The sides will meet at Hampden on Saturday, May 24, with the world’s oldest trophy on the line.
Jimmy Thelin is looking to end his first season in Scotland on a high, but he is up against Brendan Rodgers’ treble-chasing champions.
The SFA revealed on Friday that Don Robertson would take charge of the game assisted by Ross Macleod and David Dunne with Colin Steven as the fourth official.
Greg Aitken will be in charge of VAR, and he will be assisted by Sean Carr.
Following a blistering start to the season under Thelin, the Dons have had an up-and-down campaign and missed out on a third-place finish when Hibs confirmed that position in midweek.
However, they could still guarantee European group stage football next season if they beat Celtic and win their first piece of silverware since 2014 when they won the League Cup.
It has been 35-years since they last took the Scottish Cup back to the north-east and they will go into this one as huge underdogs.
Celtic won the last meeting between the pair at Hampden when they ran out 6-0 winners in the League Cup semi-final and also thrashed Thelin’s men 5-1 at Pittodrie on Wednesday night.
The Hoops have an incredible recent record at Hampden and haven’t lost a final there since 2012, when they were defeated by Kilmarnock.
The last time they lost a Scottish Cup final was in 2002, and they have won 26 of their last 27 games at the national stadium since 2016, and they will be hoping to continue their stranglehold of domestic honours by clinching a sixth domestic treble nine years.
