Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has described lifting the English Premier League trophy as the “best feeling ever”.

Robertson and his teammates were presented with the trophy after last night’s 5-3 victory over Chelsea at an empty Anfield.

He becomes just the fifth Scot to win the title in the Premier League era, which began in season 1992-93.

Robertson posted on Twitter: “Just a kid from Glasgow who had a dream of playing football. Never did I think this was possible. The best feeling ever and hopefully one of many more to come.”

Robertson also lifted the Champions League trophy last year after Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the final in Madrid.

The Scotland captain now wants to lead the nation to next year’s postponed European Championship.

He told STV News last month: “I’ve played under fantastic Scotland captains Darren Fletcher and Scott Brown and I know how much it hurt both of them not to play at a major tournament.

“I don’t want to be in a similar position to them if my career comes to an end and I’ve still not managed it.

“We’ve got a chance this year to put it right. We’ve got a play-off where if we play to our best I believe we can give it a hell of go and qualify for the Euros.”

Meanwhile, fellow Scotland defender Liam Cooper also appeared to have a good night after Leeds United were awarded the English Championship trophy.

Leeds have been promoted and will play in the Premier League next season after a 16-year absence from the top flight.
