Ross County manager John Hughes will watch his side’s fight against relegation from the stands after he was banned from the touchling for the remainder of the season.
Hughes was charged with misconduct by the Scottish FA after comments he made about referees after two separate matches, criticising match officials after County’s defeats to St Mirren and Hibs.
An independent panel met on Thursday to consider the case and found that Hughes had broken the rules . Ross County revealed that the manager had been banned for four games, with two matches suspended.
That means he won’t be in the dugout for the matches that will define the club’s season. County are currently in tenth place in the table, one point ahead of Kilmarnock and three clear of Hamilton Academical.
Hughes’ team play Hamilton in Dingwall on May 12 before facing Motherwell at Fir Park three days later.
