Ross County have begun an investigation into the racial abuse of Jordan Amissah following the side’s 2-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

The German goalkeeper, who is of Ghanaian descent, shared an image on his Instagram account that showed monkey emojis and racial abuse from an anonymous user. He wrote: “Still some people out there with no brain and too much time on their hands.”

County announced an investigation into the abuse on Friday and said they will be working with the relevant authorities to take action.

A club statement read: “Ross County FC is aware of racial abuse received by Jordan Amissah via Instagram following yesterday’s match.

“The club stand fully in support of Jordan and will be contacting the relevant authorities to assist with our investigation.”

Amissah joined County in December following injury to the club’s number one Ross Laidlaw. The 23-year-old was a free agent after leaving Sheffield United last summer.

The goalkeeper has started the team’s last three games as County have taken seven points from a possible nine.
