Ross County have stopped training and stopped all football activity at the club after a Covid-19 outbreak hit the first team squad.

The club have not disclosed how many people have tested positive for the coronavirus but say that “a number” of players and backroom staff are affected. As a result, County have shut down all football operation in a bid to prevent further infection.

County, now managed by former Scottish FA performance director Malky Mackay, are scheduled to start their season this Saturday with a League Cup match at Forfar. It is not yet known if the club will be able to fulfill the fixture.

A brief statement on County website read: “A number of Ross County players and coaching staff have tested positive for COVID-19. As a precaution the club has temporarily suspended football operations to prevent any further spread of the virus.”
