Ross County will be “taking no further action” against Michael Gardyne over alleged comments made in their defeat to Rangers.
It was claimed the veteran midfielder made a homophobic slur during an incident shortly before half-time in the 4-0 loss.
Following a foul by Iain Vigurs on Alfredo Morelos, Gardyne was booked for dissent by referee John Beaton.
Connor Goldson could be seen remonstrating with Beaton, while Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard confronted the official at the break.
Manager Stuart Kettlewell said his side would investigate the matter and they have since decided no action will be taken against the player.
The Scottish FA’s compliance officer is also investigating the allegations.
A Ross County statement said on Monday: “Following an incident involving Michael Gardyne during our recent home fixture against Rangers the club has now concluded an internal investigation.
“As a result the club will be taking no further action against the player and no further comment will be made.”
Speaking at the time, Gerrard said: “What my players are saying they heard, it shouldn’t be heard on a football pitch. That’s all I’m going to say on it.”
