Ross County’s Premiership match against Hibernian and Dundee’s home game against Aberdeen have been postponed following pitch inspections.

County and Hibs were due to meet at the Global Energy Stadium on Saturday afternoon but rainfall in Dingwall meant that doubts grew about the condition of the playing surface.

Match officials inspected the pitch on Saturday morning and took the decision to call off the game.

County’s next game will now be against Rangers at Ibrox on December 27, with Hibs facing Hearts in the Edinburgh derby at Easter Road on the same night.

Dundee v Aberdeen was a late call-off after persistent rain on Saturday morning forced a pitch inspection with a decision being made less than an hour before kick-off.

Dundee said that referee David Munro had found the goalmouth and other areas to be waterlogged and deemed the pitch unplayable.

Aberdeen chief executive Alan Burrows took to social media to express his “bitter disappointment” at the match being called off when thousands of Aberdeen games were already travelling to the match.

Aberdeen chief executive Alan Burrows expressed his “bitter disappointment” over the circumstances.

Burrows said: “Desperately sorry for every Dons fan (we had sold out the Bob Shankley Stand with over 3,000 due to be there) who made the trip to Dundee, only for the game to be called off just before 2pm.

“We checked with our opponents earlier in the morning and were assured the pitch was fine.

“It was therefore a surprise and bitter disappointment that we’ve ultimately not got a game to play.

“Games going off at this time of year isn’t the biggest issue (albeit with the calendar so congested, it’s not helpful in the slightest). Giving supporters as much notice, even as a precaution, as possible should be absolutely paramount.

“Collectively, we’ve got to be much, much better. Sorry once again to all those who have bought tickets and made the journey.”

Tony Docherty’s side will next play against Celtic on Boxing Day, while Aberdeen are at home to Motherwell on Wednesday night.

The SPFL say they will announced new dates for the games in due course.
