Sam Lammers is undergoing a medical at Rangers and is close to sealing a £3.5m move from Atalanta to Ibrox.
The striker, who has also had spells at PSV Eindhoven and Eintracht Frankfurt, is set to become Michael Beale’s fourth signing of the summer.
Lammers is expected to finalise his move in the next 24 hours.
The 26-year-old Dutch forward began his career with PSV Eindhoven but made a big money move to Italy three years ago. He found first team appearances at Atalanta hard to come by and has been out on three loan spells in succession.
Lammers was part of the Eintracht Frankfurt squad that defeated Rangers on penalties in the 2022 Europa League final, though he was an unused substitute.
The striker then had a spell at Empoli in the first half of last season, but switched to play for Sampdoria on loan from January.
Lammers will follow Jack Butland, Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling in committing to Rangers for next season, as the Ibrox club look to win domestic silverware and qualify for the Champions League.
Beale has overseen a number of exits this summer as Scott Arfield, Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Allan McGregor and Filp Helander left the club, with more expected in and out in the weeks to come.
