Scotland fans were left disappointed after Croatia lost 4-2 to the Tartan Army’s rivals England in their World Cup opener.
Croatia fought hard and twice came from behind to level before ultimately going down in Dallas.
Scotland fans gathered in bars around Boston, including Dillon’s in the Back Bay region.
The atmosphere was tense for the Tartan Army throughout, with those watching seen sighing and putting their face in their hands as England scored.
The watching Scots were temporarily relieved when Croatia levelled, but were left feeling deflated as England took control in the second half
Scotland fan Ian Flaherty, 60, said: “Let’s be honest, no Scotsman is going to be happy to see England win.
“The sad thing is they actually did pretty good.
“It’d be nice to get them in the semi-final and put two or three past them, but let’s be realistic, I can’t see that happening.”
Graeme Waugh, 59, said: “It’s disappointing, in the first half Croatia were the better team.
“In the second half, England came back in. There was only going to be one winner.
“Unfortunately this is going to give England a bit of confidence. I live down south now, so I hope not.”
Scott Findlay, 29, joked: “I’m not gonna lie, we were in the boozer, I didn’t lay my eyes upon it once. Whatever England do, I’m not interested in one bit.
“If we face them in the knockout round, there’ll be one winner. Want me to tell you who? Scotland, mate.”
Tomas Dempsey, 33, is from Ireland but now lives in Boston.
He said: “I’m Irish, supporting Scotland, but supporting Croatia today.
“C’mon Scotland, C’mon Scotland!”
