Scotland will face Denmark and Austria in the qualifying campaign to reach World Cup 2022.
Steve Clarke’s side will also face Israel in the qualifying group, renewing a recent rivalry after meeting in the Nations League and European Championship play-offs.
The national team will also play Faroe Islands and Moldova in the six-team group.
Scotland haven’t played a competitive match against group top seeds Denmark since the 1986 World Cup where the Danes were 1-0 winners.
Fifty-five nations are competing for just 13 places at the finals. The ten group winners qualify automatically for the tournament in Qatar in two years’ time.
The group runners-up all go into play-offs along with the best two sides from the Nations League group winners that haven’t already secured a place. Those teams are split into three paths with each path winner taking a finals place.
Qualifiers will be played from March to November next year, with the playoff in March of 2022. A full fixture list will be published once national associations have negotiated dates.
