Scotland supporters hoping to attend the national team’s World Cup group matches in the United States will face a loyalty-based ballot due to high demand for tickets.
The Scotland Supporters Club has confirmed that all three of Scotland’s group-stage fixtures are oversubscribed across ticket categories ahead of a rush for the tournament in North America.
This means that allocations will be decided using the club’s loyalty points system once FIFA’s final application deadline passes next Tuesday.
Thousands of SSC members have applied for tickets for the opening matches against Haiti, Morocco and Brazil in Scotland’s first men’s World Cup appearance since 1998.
However, the SFA revealed last month that just under 4,000 tickets have been allocated for each of the Group C games.
Steve Clarke’s men kick off in Massachusetts on June 14, before facing Morocco five days later at the same Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
Scotland are then set for a glamour clash with Brazil on June 26 in Miami.
The loyalty points system rewards supporters who have built up attendance records at previous Scotland matches, with those on the highest totals most likely to secure tickets.
Optimism among the Tartan Army seems high ahead of Scotland’s first men’s World Cup appearance since 1998, with 292 members having already applied for tickets to the World Cup final.
While the group games are oversubscribed, demand for Scotland’s potential knockout matches remains significantly lower at this stage.
Under present application levels, supporters who have applied for tickets to later rounds would all be successful if Scotland were to progress, with tickets refunded should the team be eliminated earlier.
The SSC also warned that applications for accessible seating remain heavily oversubscribed and urged members to review their applications to ensure such tickets are reserved for those with genuine accessibility requirements.
Members have until the final deadline of Tuesday, January 13, to apply for tickets, but have been urged to apply before the SFA’s recommended deadline of 11pm on Sunday, December 21.
Pricing is split into three tiers, with fans only able to apply for tickets from one category.
The Premier Tier tickets are priced at $500 (£372), Standard Tier tickets cost $400 (£298), and Value Tier seats are set at $180 (£134) each.
Final ticket outcomes for supporters will be confirmed following FIFA’s deadline.
