Identical twins who are Scotland youth internationals have both been named as substitutes for Tottenham Hotspur’s first European game of the season.
Matthew and Michael Craig are on the bench for Spurs’ Europa Conference League play-off game against Paços de Ferreira in Portugal.
The 18-year-olds both play for Scotland at youth level, and have played in the Victory Shield tournament.
The siblings were born in Barnet but qualify to play for Scotland through both grandfathers, one of whom is former Notts County forward Ron Still.
The Craig brothers both play in central midfield, though Matthew can also play in the centre of defence.
Speaking to Spurs’ website, Michael said the pair felt the benefits of playing together in the similar positions.
“I think we’re lucky,” he said. “Everyone has players who they have a natural chemistry with and when you spend a lot of your lives together, you just end up knowing what the other person wants from you on and off the pitch.
“That gives you a deeper understanding of how you can work with them to try to dominate games with the team.”
