Scottish runner Laura Muir has announced that she will be coached by former athletes Steve Cram and Laura Weightman.
The Olympic silver and Commonwealth Gold medallist took to social media to reveal her new coaching team on Tuesday.
Muir, 31, had been working with Steve Vernon for the Paris Olympics last year following her split from long-term coach Andy Young in 2023.
She will now work alongside Cram and Weightman in the lead-up to next year’s Commonwealth Games.
Retired middle-distance runner Cram won a series of medals at the 1500m event throughout the 1980s including silver at the 84 Olympics in Los Angeles.
The 64-year-old also won three gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, one in Brisbane 82 and two in Edinburgh four years later, and two gold medals and a bronze medal at the European Championships.
Weightman won silver at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 and bronze four years later in the Gold Coast.
She also won two European Championship bronze for the 1500m events in 2014 and 2018.
Posting on her Instagram page, Muir said: “Really excited to announce that I am being coached by Steve Cram and Laura Weightman.
“Two truly inspiring people, both of which I have been fortunate to know for over a decade.
“Steve, someone who has commentated on practically every major race of my career, coached Laura W and ran pretty well himself over 1500m…
“And Laura, an amazing competitor and dear friend who I raced and trained alongside for many a year. We have a few 1500m championship medals between us!
“A massive thank you to my previous coach Steve Vernon who supported me in 2023/2024. Good luck with your new ventures.”
