We’re not alone in experiencing temperatures below average for June, with Spain, France, Scandinavia and Germany all suffering a similar fate at the moment, although the cool northerly air flow will be cut off later in the week with temperatures rising.
For the Scotland team and fans who’ve headed off to the Bavarian region of Germany, the weather looks pretty decent towards the end of the week – with plenty of sunshine and higher temperatures.
With the mercury rising to the mid-20s by Friday, it’s likely that some Scots fans will introduce Munchners to our typical ’taps off’ tradition – but this should come with a word of warning.
We’re just about a week away from the summer solstice. That means the sun is now at its strongest possible level with the UV index hitting a level 7 in Munich on Friday.
This is at the extreme level of what we get here in Scotland and means the burn time is less than 20 minutes.
So while Friday may be a day of sing-songs and enjoying the best of Bavaria, it’s worth making sure you have plenty of suntan lotion on before your day of merriment.
For the game itself on Friday night, after highs around 25C, it should cool off to 16C for kick-off and remain dry.
Saturday should be another warm day before rain arrives in the evening – perfect for continuing celebrations of Friday night’s win. We hope!
