The Scottish Professional Football League has submitted its response to the legal action from Heart of Midlothian and Partick Thistle.
The SPFL, through its legal team at Shepherd and Wedderburn, lodged its answers to the clubs’ petition ahead of the deadline of 5pm on Wednesday.
A hearing will be held in the near future allowing both sides to be heard in full.
Hearts and Partick Thistle are seeking to have their relegation from the Premiership and Championship respectively overturned by having the courts rule the original vote to end the season was unlawful.
They want the rule change that saw relegation and promotion enforced before the full complement of fixtures was completed to be scrubbed – meaning that Hearts, Partick Thistle and Stranraer would stay up, and Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers would remain in the same divisions as the 2019/20 season.
If they are unsuccessful in being granted the reversal of relegation amd promotion the two clubs have asked for a total of £10m – £8m to Hearts and £2m to Thistle – to be paid in compensation from the SPFL.
