St Johnstone have been handed a glamour tie against PSV or Galatasaray in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.
Callum Davidson’s side won both domestic cup competitions last season but will face a tough test if they are to progress to the play-off round of the tournament.
Saints will have to wait until the conclusion of the Champions League second qualifying round to see if they will be facing PSV or Galatasaray, with the loser of the tie between the Dutch side and the Turkish giants dropping into the Europa League and travelling to Perth.
St Johnstone will be away from home for the first leg on August 5 with the second leg being played seven days later, with the winner moving on to play a two-legged play-off for a place in the group stage. The losers would drop into the play-off stage of the new Conference League competition.
The Europa League draw also brought news for Celtic. Ange Postecoglou’s side begin their Champions League qualifying campaign against Midtjylland on Tuesday night and would face the winners of PSV v Galatasaray in the elite competition.
However, if the Parkhead side are knocked out by Midtjlland, they would drop into the Europa League and face FC Jablonec, who finished third in the Czech League last season.
