St Johnstone have reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup after knocking Rangers out in a dramatic tie at Ibrox.

The sides couldn’t be separated in a goalless 90 minutes but Rangers captain James Tavernier looked to have put the Premiership champions through when he scored a header in the 117th minute.

St Johnstone rallied and were handed a final chance when they earned a corner in added time after 120 minutes had been played.

Goalkeeper Zander Clark went up to join the attack and found himself unmarked when the ball was swung in, rising to direct a header goalwards with Chris Kane appearing to get a final touch over the line to force penalties.

Clark then saved Tavenier’s spot kick and Kemar Roofe’s while St Johnstone scored with all their penalties to put the League Cup winners through to the semi-finals.

Callum Davidson’s side will find out their opponents in Monday night’s draw.
