St Mirren have said that “families and young children” among their support felt unsafe at Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.
The Paisley club revealed that supports were placed within a “unsafe situation” as they arrived at the national stadium for the match, which Celtic won 6-2 in extra-time.
They have now opened discussions with relevant authorities to understand what measures were in place for supporter safety.
A statement read: “St Mirren Football Club wishes to acknowledge a situation that occurred within the footprint of Hampden Park prior to our Scottish Gas Scottish Cup semi-final match against Celtic.
“We recognise that the event took place at a neutral venue and was under the control of the relevant stadium authorities and partner agencies.
“However, we are aware that some of our supporters, including young children and families, were placed in a situation where they felt unsafe as they arrived at the stadium.
“We are currently in dialogue with the appropriate authorities to better understand how this situation arose and what measures were in place to manage supporter movements in advance of the match.
“The safety and wellbeing of our supporters remain of paramount importance to St Mirren Football Club, and we are seeking reassurance that appropriate steps will be taken to prevent a similar occurrence in the future.
“We will always do our utmost to support and protect our fans and want them to feel safe and confident when attending matches.”
