St Mirren are aiming to add at least two attacking players to the squad for next season – after tying down striker Mikael Mandron on a new deal.
Mandron’s existing contract was due to expire at the end of the Premiership campaign but the 30-year-old has now signed a one-year extension with the Paisley club.
The striker has played his part in the Paisley side’s third consecutive top-six Premiership place, scoring five league goals so far, and has been a regular first-team player since moving to the club in 2023.
St Mirren manager Robinson explained that agreeing the deal was an important part of his plans for next season, and that he is working on delivering new recruits to his attack.
Jonah Ayunga has already pledged his future to the club but Toyosi Olusanya’s transfer to Houston Dynamo means Robinson needs a pacy replacement, and he also wants to add width to the team.
“Mika’s been a really important part of what we’ve done over the last few seasons and he’ll continue to be,” Robinson said.
“We’ve got Jonah Ayunga under a new contract and we’ve got Mika under a new contract so it allows me to really take my time in that third forward that I want.
“To replace Toyosi it has to be a real quick player. That’s what we want, we want that pace and we want pace in wide areas to give me the option of playing wingers as well.
“We’re already well down the line with one and we want another one.
“We need change but we also need to remember the base that has given us these three seasons. Mika has been a mainstay in that and I’m delighted to get him signed for another year.”
