Stenhousemuir auction chance to play for first team

Stenhousemuir are offering a fan the chance to play in a first team game as part of a fundraising effort at the League Two club.

The Warriors are one of many clubs looking to raise funds as they cope with the financial impact of the coronavirus shutdown and that will see one supporter take to the field as ‘a trialist’ in the future.

The club has announced an auction where the winner will come off the bench to play for the team in a friendly.

We are auctioning off the chance to play for the Club, a once in a lifetime opportunity.

A notice on the club website read: “We will run an auction from 3pm Thursday March 19 to 5pm Thursday March 26 with the highest bidder winning the chance to play for the club in a one-off closed doors friendly match.

“The auction winner will be named in the squad and come off the bench to join Warriors first team players in a friendly.

This is your chance to say you have played for Stenhousemuir FC.”

The club have also made 600 shares in the club available for sale and are seeking a stadium sponsor for Ochilview Park.

All football is currently suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak and no date has been set for a return to play.

Experts have warned that the lack of matchday revenue will have serious consequences for some clubs.
