Scottish swimmer Stephen Clegg has won bronze in the men’s S12 100m backstroke at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
The win from the 25-year-old makes a total of five medals for Scots in the Paralympics GB team.
Director of high performance at Sportscotland Mike Whittingham said: “That was an incredible swim by Stephen to win bronze.
“An absolutely brilliant result and huge congratulations must go to Stephen and everyone who has supported him including the team at Scottish Swimming. He is an inspiration.”
Clegg’s bronze follows the UK’s first athletics medal at the games won by Scottish sprinter Maria Lyle.
Scotland’s Fin Graham won silver in the C3 3000m Individual Pursuit on Thursday.
Scotland’s Aileen McGlynn, piloted by Helen Scott, won silver in the Women’s B 1000m Time Trial at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Aberdeen’s Toni Shaw won a medal in the S9 400m freestyle – the first British athlete to enjoy success in the pool in Tokyo.
