St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson has admitted that the team hasn’t been performing to the levels required of them and will need to up their game for the post-split fixtures.

Sunday’s 4-0 home defeat to Rangers came after the Paisley side’s hopes of making the cut had faded away in recent weeks, and left the team with a record of just one win in eight games since the Northern Irishman succeeded Jim Goodwin.

The team has lost ten goals in their last three games and now sit just six points ahead of St Johnstone, who occupy the relegation spot.

Robinson said things have to change quickly and he will need to find a way to tighten up at the back if the team is to turn things around and finish as high as they can.

He said: “I ultimately take the blame, we have won one in eight since I came in. No excuses, we have to be better. I don’t look to blame anyone else, it hasn’t been good enough.

“A lot of teams are going into this post-split with a lack of confidence. So it’s up to me to get the boys going again, find a system which stops us conceding as many goals as we have.

“We don’t need to be pretty between now and the end of the season. We just have to try and get as many points as we can.

“We will go away and reset and aim for seventh place going forward.”
