Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell believes he’s adding the right sort of person as well as the right player after adding Steve Seddon to his squad.
The left-back has signed a one-year deal at Fir Park after leaving Oxford United and he becomes Motherwell’s ninth signing of a busy close season.
Kettlewell said he had been searching for the ideal recruit to fill a hole in his squad and is confident he has signed someone with the background to make the move a success.
“This was an area of the pitch we knew we needed to strengthen,” the manager said.
“We have been trying to recruit someone who is not only the right type of player, but the right type of person too.
“Steve has played a lot of football down in England, and with that comes vast experience. He likes to get forward which is something that is important in our system.
“I hope he hits the ground running. I’ve spoken with him since his arrival at Fir Park and you can tell he’s raring to get going.”
Seddon, who began his career at Birmingham and has also played at Stevenage, AFC Wimbledon, Portsmouth Cambridge and Burton Albion, has played over 200 games in England’s lower leagues and contributed goals and assists from left-back.
The 26-year-old says he’s clear on what’s expected and can’t wait to get started.
He said: “This is the first time I’ve came across the border to play.
“It’s an exciting opportunity and something really different for me.
“The manager spoke to me at length about the vision for the club and that’s what grabbed me.
“It’s not just about the present, he’s planning for the future and looking to build. Hopefully, I can play my part in that.”
