SWPL roundup: Rangers stay top on goal difference with 6-1 win

Rangers came from behind to beat Spartans 6-1 to stay top of the Scottish Women’s Premier League on goal difference.

Jo Potter’s side put their midweek Champions League disappointment behind them and kept up their perfect start to the SWPL season with a convincing win at Broadwood on Sunday.

Camille Lafaix and Katie Wilkinson both hit a double with Rio Hardy and Olivia McLoughlin getting the other goals after Erin Rennie had handed the visitors a shock early lead.

Hearts and Glasgow City remain joint on points with Rangers, who also have a game in hand, with wins over Aberdeen and Motherwell respectively.

The Jambos beat the Dons at the Oriam in Edinburgh with goals from Joely Andrews, Georgia Timms and Sade Adamolekun.

City beat Motherwell 1-0 at K-Park with a goal from Emily Whelan to stay third behind Rangers and Hearts on goal difference.

Champions Celtic beat Partick Thistle 3-0 in Kirkintilloch thanks to a brace from Shannon McGregor and a Murphy Agnew strike.

Elena Sadiku’s side, who are in the playoff stage of the Champions League next weekend, are two points behind the top three but have a game in hand over Hearts and Glasgow City.

Elsewhere Hibs beat Queen’s Park 6-1 at the Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh and Montrose beat Dundee United 2-1.

United remain rooted to the bottom of the table with only one point from their opening seven league games.
