Scotland will take to the field at the Euro 2024 opener with the traditional sound of bagpipes ringing in their ears after UEFA confirmed the instruments will be permitted.
The Tartan Army are set to travel in their thousands to the support Steve Clarke’s men at the tournament being held in Germany this summer.
But there were fears that Scotland’s National instrument would not be allowed in the Allianz Arena stadium in Munich, where the opening game will be played, amid a reported ban on “mechanical sound-emitting devices”.
However, the games’ governing body said the pipes will be permitted as long as they are registered beforehand.
A spokesperson for UEFA said: “Fans are welcome to bring instruments to the stadium, but they will have to register them with their respective national associations, who will be responsible for centralising their fans’ activities inside the stadium.”
The National Team take on the hosts in the blockbuster tournament opener in Munich on June 14.
After that it will be on to Cologne to play Switzerland five days before their group stage campaign comes to an end against Hungary on June 23.
If all goes well, the sweet sound of bagpipes could be heard ringing through the streets of Berlin ahead of the final being played there on July 14.
