Tickets for Scotland friendly match in Turkey available for only £2

Tickets for Scotland’s friendly with Turkey in Diyarbakir are available for as little as £2.

The game being held next week will be the first-ever international match played in the Kurdish stronghold and Scotland’s first meeting with Turkey in 62 years.

And any Tartan Army members making the 6000-mile roundtrip can snap up two tickets for less than a fiver.

Both teams failed to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar that kicks off four days later when the host nation take on Ecuador.

Diyarbakir, on the far southeast of Turkey around 200 miles from the Syria border, is the largest Kurdish majority city in the country.

It has been the site of battles between Turkish forces, the Kurdistan Workers Party and ISIL over the last decade with large parts of the city’s Sur area destroyed as a result of fighting in 2015 and 16.

The region has recently been opened up to tourism again following a large-scale restoration project in 2021.

The Turkish FA have handed the Tartan Army just over 1,000 tickets for the friendly clash at the 33,000-seater stadium that is expected to be full to capacity.

It will be Scotland’s last game for more than for four months with their next fixture coming when their European Championship qualifying campaign kicks-off against Cyprus in March.

Steve Clarke’s men will also take on Spain, Norway and Georgia for a place at Euro 24 in Germany.
