Viaplay set to launch new TV channel broadcasting Scotland football fixtures in the UK from November

The Nordic broadcaster which now owns the rights to screen Scotland international fixtures live is to launch in the UK next month.

Viaplay will rebrand Premier Sports on November 1 after sealing a deal to show all of the men’s national team’s World Cup 2026 qualifiers, all of the campaign to reach Euro 2028 and all Nations League and international friendlies between 2024 and 2028 in April.

The channel will also show the Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup when it begins transmitting, while Premier Sports 1 and 2 will be renamed Viaplay Sports 1 and 2.

Scottish clubs will continue to compete for the Premier Sports Cup this season – despite the channel ceasing to exist after the end of the month.

The SPFL declined to comment whether the competition would be renamed when approached by STV News.

Fans will be able to buy packages to follow their sides for a monthly fee of £14.99 – which will also include access to the broadcaster’s collection of “Nordic storytelling with award-winning Viaplay Originals and curated third-party content”.

Media rights are no longer negotiated by the Scottish FA, with UEFA taking responsibility for a central sales process.

Live La Liga and Coppa Italia football will also be available through the service alongside the United Rugby Championship, Top 14, NHL and World Athletics meetings.
