Georgia head coach Willy Sagnol has stressed their home game with Scotland is of major importance ahead of the Euro 2024 play-offs.
Georgia face Euro 2024 qualifiers Spain and Scotland in their final two Group A games but some impressive performances in the Nations League have ensured they will have a real chance in March to make Germany.
Georgia’s Nations League success came courtesy of results like a 5-2 win in Bulgaria and a 3-0 away victory against North Macedonia and Sagnol wants his team to boost their confidence when they host Scotland on Thursday.
“We have two important matches because it’s the last two games before the play-offs, so it’s important for the players to show me that they deserve to play, that they have the quality to play, and that they can bring something to the team,” the former Bayern Munich and France defender said.
“Don’t expect big tactical change between now and March. What we are doing at the moment we have to make it better and stronger.
“The results are one thing, but how we are going to present ourselves, the confidence, the team spirit, will be more important than anything else, because that is what is going to make us stronger or not regarding March.
“To gain as much confidence as possible for March, we need to do a lot of things well in these two matches.”
