Aberdeen Royal Infirmary accepting ambulances after declaring critical incident

The health board was forced to divert patients to hospitals outside the area due to 'extreme pressure'.

NHS Grampian says ambulances will no longer be turned away from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The health board declared a critical incident on Thursday due to “continuing pressure” on the hospital and said some patients would be sent to Inverness or Dundee.

On Friday, NHS Grampian said patients west of Elgin will continue to be taken to Raigmore in Inverness to alleviate pressure on Dr Gray’s Hospital.
