Army veteran with sight loss running 42nd marathon for charity

Steven Waterson will run Edinburgh Marathon raising money for Chest, Heart and Stroke, after having a stroke 20 years ago.

Nothing has stopped army veteran Steven Waterston from running, after suffering brain haemorrhages, viral meningitis, pneumonia, paralysis, and major sight loss.

Steven had to leave his 20-year military career under medical discharge, and says it’s through running that he’s found calm and strength.

Since his first brain haemorrhage in 2003, he’s gone on to undertake more than 40 marathons.

Now the grandfather from Dalkeith is about to undertake his 42nd marathon while raising funds for charity, and says he has no plans to slow down.
