Artist brings sounds captured beneath the River Forth to the surface

Right to Roam looks at the inner worlds of the river and the fundamental freedom Scots have to access land and waterways.

Artist Sarah Calmus has captured the sounds beneath the surface of the River Forth as part of an immersive exhibition of light and sound at Inspace in Edinburgh.

Called Right to Roam, the work looks at the inner worlds of the river and the fundamental freedom Scots have to access land and waterways.

Sarah has combined her sound recordings with 30 years of data to show the health of the river through an immersive exhibition, which is on show at the hub, dedicated to bringing together art and technology.

The health of the Firth of Forth has been boosted in recent years thanks to marine restoration projects, with 14,000 volunteers who helped return 60,000 oysters to the waters.
