Basic human rights not being met in the Highlands, report finds

The Scottish Government says no-one should have to compromise on food or other essentials.

A new report has found that basic human rights, such as access to food, housing, and proper healthcare, are not being met for people living across the Highlands and Islands.

The Scottish Human Rights Commission says too many people are hungry and homeless and says urgent action must be taken.

The Commission piloted an innovative new human rights monitoring model by visiting 20 communities across the region and interviewing a total of 146 people.
