Call for increase in number of public defibrillators to help save more lives

In some areas people can wait up to 17 minutes for the retrieval of a PAD.

Experts warn that delays to accessing life-saving defibrillators are puttting people at risk.

Figures from British Heart Foundation revealed that the the public are facing waits of up to 17 minutes before being able to use the equipment contained in the cabinets.

The charity say another 1500, publically available 24/7 across the country, would improve coverage by around 50%.

The Scottish Government said it welcomes the study into the area and will consider it in full.
