Crown to appeal community service sentence for rapist

Sean Hogg was found guilty of raping a 13-year-old girl

Scotland’s senior law officer, the Lord Advocate, has described the sentence issued to a convicted rapist as “unduly lenient” and has decided the Crown will appeal the decision.

21-year-old Sean Hogg escaped a prison sentence and was instead ordered to 270 hours of unpaid work earlier this month, following his conviction in March for raping a teenager in Dalkeith.
