Deposit Return scheme could be scrapped at end of the month

To go ahead the scheme requires an exemption from the UK government to the internal markets act

The future of the Deposit Return Scheme has been thrown into doubt.

The Scottish Government minister responsible says if they do not receive the necessary exemption from the UK Government by the end of the month it could be scrapped.

Lorna Slater was speaking at the Scottish Grocers’ Federation summit this afternoon. Retailers say it causes further confusion.
