Family's plea after dad thrown in jail 'for picking up wrong phone on holiday'

A Scots dad has been stuck in Bangkok for nearly a month, after he claims to have accidentally picked up someone else’s phone during a night out.

Rory McColl, 37, was thrown into a Thai jail cell after the incident, and is now unable to leave the country for an unknown amount of time while he awaits trial.

His family say the nightmare has been drawn out further for their son, who they fear has been the victim of scammers, who are misrepresenting him in order to profit from the situation.

A Go-Fund-Me page has been set up to help pay for legal aid for Rory and flights to get him home, once he’s eventually cleared.
