Fresh windfall tax calls as Shell profits top £7.5 billion

But the industry have warned jobs have already been lost because of the tax

There are fresh calls for a tougher windfall tax as Shell announced better than expected global profits for the first three months of this year.

The oil and gas firm made more than £7.5 billion between January and March.

Opposition parties and campaigners say companies shouldn’t be allowed to offset profits if they invest in oil drilling in the North Sea.
