Scotland’s whisky industry is celebrating a decision by Brazil to grant special protected status to the national drink.
The legal recognition of Scotch whisky is expected to give distillers better access to South America’s largest economy.
The trade secretary Jonathan Reynolds says the UK Government is also monitoring the situation over trade tariffs with the US closely amid concerns from the industry they could be re-imposed in two years.
